Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer

Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer serves as the thirteenth president of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, a role he assumed in May 2025. He leads nearly 2,000 churches around the world, inspiring communities to pursue the mission of Jesus with passion and devotion.

For over 25 years, Jonathan was lead pastor of Grace Church, a multi-campus, multi-ethnic congregation in Cleveland, where he helped launch several new churches. His faith journey began in childhood, shaped by personal experiences and the spiritual example of his parents.

Jonathan holds a certificate from Capernwray Bible School, a BA and MA from Columbia International University, an MDiv from Alliance Theological Seminary, and a DMin from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

He and his wife, Mary, live in Columbus, Ohio, and travel frequently to serve the Alliance family. They enjoy hiking, visiting beaches and national parks, and spending time with their adult children, children-in-law, and grandchildren. Jonathan’s heart is to grow in love for Jesus and help others experience His transforming grace.
